EXT. PAVED COURT – RICHMOND, LONDON

Paved Court

as Ted's flat, 9½ Paved Court

The black front door where Ted lets himself in every evening, where Rebecca leaves the biscuit tin and where the team turns up in season three. Paved Court is a narrow pedestrian lane of small shops between George Street and the Green; the 9½ was painted on for filming, the real number is 11a.

NOTECome before the shops open, around 09:00, and you have the lane to yourself.

INT. THE PRINCE'S HEAD – RICHMOND, LONDON

The Prince's Head

as The Crown & Anchor, Mae's pub

Every exterior of the Crown & Anchor: Ted and Beard walking in, the darts night, the crowd watching matches through the window. Only the outside – the bar with Mae, Baz, Jeremy and Paul was a set at West London Film Studios.

NOTEOrder at the bar, sit in the booth if it is free, and expect the interior to look nothing like television.

EXT. RICHMOND GREEN – RICHMOND, LONDON

Richmond Green

as The neighbourhood park; Ted's thinking bench

Ted and Beard's daily walk to work, kickabouts, conversations on the bench by the two red phone boxes at the south-east corner opposite the pub. The Green has been open ground since the Middle Ages and cricket has been played on it since 1666.

NOTEThe bench is a bench. The photo works better with the phone boxes and the pub behind you.

EXT. PEMBROKE VILLAS – RICHMOND, LONDON

The exterior of Rebecca Welton's house is Pembroke House on Pembroke Villas, the row of Victorian villas on the north-west side of the Green; it is where Higgins walks the dog in season one and where the Man City episode of season two plays out.

EXT. RICHMOND RIVERSIDE – RICHMOND, LONDON

as Roy and Keeley's first date; the towpath

The terraces and towpath below Whittaker Avenue, with the old town hall behind: Roy and Keeley's first date, the season-two dinner at Gaucho on the towpath, and various walks along the Thames Path.

NOTEWalk the towpath downstream towards Richmond Lock or upstream under the bridge to Petersham Meadows; both take twenty minutes and beat any stop on the tour.

EXT. RICHMOND BRIDGE – RICHMOND, LONDON

The Georgian stone bridge of 1777, Grade I listed, appears in the establishing shots and walks along the river; the bike tours run over it and across Twickenham Bridge.

EXT. TWICKENHAM EMBANKMENT – TWICKENHAM, LONDON

The bench on the Embankment opposite Twickenham Rowing Club on Eel Pie Island, where Roy, Keeley and Phoebe spend the afternoon at the start of season two. Church Street round the corner supplied several street scenes, including the Dolls of England shop, which is the boutique Mojo.

EXT. SELHURST PARK – SOUTH NORWOOD, CROYDON, LONDON

as Nelson Road, AFC Richmond's stadium

Crystal Palace's ground plays the Dog Track. The exterior of the Holmesdale Road end was dressed as the Nelson Road entrance; match scenes use the pitch and stands, with crowds partly added digitally. Away grounds were Craven Cottage (as Everton), Wembley and the London Stadium.

EXT. SKYEX COMMUNITY STADIUM – HAYES, LONDON

as AFC Richmond's training ground and offices

The ground of Hayes & Yeading United on Beaconsfield Road is the training pitch, the car park where Roy and Jamie meet and the exterior of the club offices; Rebecca's office and the dressing room were built inside. It was chosen because it is next door to West London Film Studios, where the sets were.

NOTEA Saturday match here is the cheapest way to stand where the Greyhounds trained, and the club could use the gate money.

INT. DAQUISE – SOUTH KENSINGTON, LONDON

as Ola's, Sam's Nigerian restaurant

Sam Obisanya's restaurant Ola's was filmed at Daquise, a Polish restaurant at 20 Thurloe Street opposite South Kensington station, open since 1947. The season-two dinner with Edwin Akufo and the season-three scenes at the restaurant were shot here.

INT. EMBASSY CAFE – NOTTING HILL, LONDON

as Mary's, Roy's kebab shop

The kebab shop where Ted finds Roy at the start of season two and talks him into coaching is the Embassy Cafe at 1 Mortimer Square, a corner café off Ladbroke Grove.

EXT. RANGER'S HOUSE – GREENWICH

The family's Grosvenor Square home is the red-brick Georgian villa on the edge of Greenwich Park, with wisteria added by the set dressers. Interiors were built at the studio.

EXT. OLD ROYAL NAVAL COLLEGE – GREENWICH

The Grand Square and colonnades for the outdoor London scenes, the lower square as the street outside the Featherington house, and the chapel for the series-three wedding.

EXT. HATFIELD HOUSE – HATFIELD

The Marble Hall and the long gallery serve as the Featherington interiors and a ballroom; the gardens are the Bridgerton and Danbury grounds.

EXT. PAINSHILL PARK – COBHAM

The 18th-century landscape garden with its grotto and lake; picnic and promenade scenes.

EXT. WROTHAM PARK – POTTERS BAR

INT. WARNER BROS. STUDIO TOUR LONDON – LEAVESDEN

as The Great Hall, Diagon Alley, Platform 9¾, Gringotts

The actual sets, not replicas: the Great Hall, Dumbledore's office, the Potions classroom, the Burrow kitchen, Diagon Alley as a full street, the Forbidden Forest and, since 2019, Gringotts bank. The model of Hogwarts used for the exterior shots stands in the final hall.

NOTEStandard tickets for school holidays and weekends sell out weeks ahead. If your date is gone, the coach packages from central London often still have space – they hold their own allocation.

EXT. KING'S CROSS STATION – LONDON

King's Cross Station

as Platform 9¾

The platform scenes were shot between platforms 4 and 5, not 9 and 10 – the real 9 and 10 are in a separate building. The exterior in the films is St Pancras next door, whose Gothic façade looked better.

NOTEBefore 9 in the morning the queue is a few minutes; by midday it can be an hour.

EXT. LEADENHALL MARKET – LONDON

Leadenhall Market

as Diagon Alley and the Leaky Cauldron entrance

The Victorian covered market is the approach to the Leaky Cauldron in Philosopher's Stone; the blue door of the optician's at 42 Bull's Head Passage is the pub's entrance.

NOTEMillennium Bridge, which the Death Eaters destroy in Half-Blood Prince, is a 15-minute walk west along the river.

INT. AUSTRALIA HOUSE – LONDON

The marble exhibition hall of the Australian High Commission on the Strand was the goblins' banking hall in Philosopher's Stone. For Deathly Hallows Part 2 it was rebuilt at Leavesden – that set is now on the Studio Tour.
