The city walls are the walls of King's Landing; the Jesuit Staircase below St Ignatius church is Cersei's walk of atonement; Pile Gate and the Minčeta Tower appear in the Battle of Blackwater; Gradac Park is the Purple Wedding; the Ploče side of the walls is where Cersei watches the ships in season eight.

NOTECruise-ship days flood the Old Town between 10 and 15. The port schedule is published; plan the walls for a day with one ship or none.

The fortress on the rock west of the Old Town is the Red Keep exterior and its terraces: Joffrey's name-day tournament in season two, the scene where Cersei and Littlefinger argue about power.

The Renaissance garden 25 km up the coast is where Olenna Tyrell holds court and where Sansa is warned about Joffrey in seasons three and four.

The garden party where Daenerys arrives in Qarth was filmed in the monastery cloister on Lokrum. The visitor centre there holds one of the original Iron Throne props.

The avenue of beech trees on Bregagh Road is where Arya escapes King's Landing disguised as a boy in season two.

The 18th-century farmyard of the National Trust estate was Winterfell's courtyard in the first season – Robert Baratheon's arrival, the archery practice. Later seasons rebuilt Winterfell at the Belfast studios.

The sea caves south of the village are the Stormlands cove of season two.

The Linen Mill Studios, where much of the series was shot, opened as a permanent exhibition in 2022: the Winterfell great hall, Dragonstone throne room, the Iron Throne, costumes and props.

The Roman amphitheatre outside Seville is the ruined Dragonpit where the parley takes place in the season seven finale and the council chooses Bran in the last episode.

The cathedral steps are the Great Sept of Baelor in season six; the Arab baths, the Jewish quarter and the Sant Pere de Galligants monastery are the streets of Braavos where Arya is chased by the Waif.

as The road to the Eyrie and the lands beyond the Wall

The rift valley of the national park is the pass to the Bloody Gate in season four, where Arya and the Hound arrive at the Eyrie; other beyond-the-Wall scenes were shot at Lake Mývatn, Kirkjufell and on the Vatnajökull glacier.

NOTEThe Iceland tours are landscape tours with a Thrones commentary – nothing is built there, and that is the appeal.

Mdina Gate is the city gate where Catelyn arrives in King's Landing in the first season; Fort Ricasoli stands in for the Red Keep, Fort Manoel for the Great Sept of Baelor. From season two the production moved to Dubrovnik.
